The last point is the most important one. The English have been kind enough to write up their material in English instead of French, German or Italian: Have a look at how Europe teaches writing. Sit straight infront of your desk with the paper infront of you (maybe slightly slanted) on a not too hard, not too soft surface. What is most comfortable for you is best (unless it restricts your movement). For whatever reason, people in the US seem to be hung up on Spencerian and Palmer method, even though the rest of the world moved on and developed methods that fit how people learn writing and todays writing implements much better. The script itself is based on Spencerian, which has been developed almost 200 years ago for horribly unreliable dip-pens and precursors of fountain pens. The way it recommends to hold the hand goes against everything I know about anatomy and how fine motor manipulations work.
